At our school, the teaching of maths is a consistent approach which runs from EYFS up through to Year 6. 

Throughout the whole school, we follow the White Rose Maths scheme of work which supports the delivery of high-quality lessons, ensuring that children are able to learn key ideas behind the meanings of numbers and are able to then confidently investigate other mathematical areas. 

Each area of White Rose Maths is broken down into 'small steps' which focus on improving initial learnt concepts as the child progresses through school and enable the teaching sequence to be broken down into achievable sections. 'Scaffolds' are in place for any children that require additional support, and challenges are used to extend understanding and further build up reasoning and problem-solving skills within each area.
