The teaching and learning of English, here at Barwick and Stoford is a joined-up approach which starts in EYFS and continues through to Year 6. 

We use Jane Considine's The Write Stuff scheme for guidance for English writing, we also use her spelling and reading comprehension scheme as the children approach the end of Year 1. This enables the children to make links across the 3 areas of learning. The teaching of English is a holistic approach to the subject. 

Other schemes are used to support this in other areas, and we find,  collectively, all areas of learning are met and children are able to progress and succeed.
